Best Drugstore Foundation For Brown Skin

I usually stay away from drugstore makeup because many brands do not offer enough shades for dark-skinned black women, but while on a quick trip to Walmart two weeks ago I discovered a new foundation from Black Opal. Many Makeup artist love Black Opal’s  cream stick foundations and finishing powders and are staples in their kits. I picked up the True Color Pore Perfecting Liquid Foundation which is said to help minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, controls excess oil and renews skin natural radiance.  Since my pores are out of control I decided give it a try.

After looking at reviews (while in store lol) I purchased 2 different shades, I follow many youtube gurus that have the same completion as me so I went with what they suggested.

  • Black Walnut– dark brown with neutral tone (perfect color for me during the summer)
  • Carob medium dark brown with yellow tone (Just right for my me in the cooler months)

I have blemishes and I normally like to conceal certain parts of my face, but with this foundation  I went against my normal routine. This foundation is an light to medium coverage but it’s buildable. With one pump of this foundation I’m able to cover my entire face and it covered mu blemishes without concealer. The finish is matte and it looks very natural on the skin. I’m also able to get 6-8 hours of wear out of this foundation. I do have oily skin and thats where my primer helps set my foundation (details on my primer coming next week).

Below I applied Carob

After setting with powder

  • The airless pump
  • Matte finish
  • Price point $10-$12
  • Color range

  • Hard to find in stores
  • Settles kind of weird, you must use the right primer and setting powder

Overall  this foundation is AMAZING! I’ve been wearing it nearly every day for the past two weeks and I’m very pleased with how this foundation performs especially since it’s a drugstore foundation. This drugstore foundation is great for women of color and I highly recommend it. Check out your local Walmart/CVS and let me know your thoughts. Below is a finished look using this foundation BEAT FOR THE GODS….
